Anonymous said: I was debating abortion with a very prolife friend of mine. I felt I was doing well until she brought up this ridiculous hypothetical situation where she asked, "What if the baby was born but was still connected to the umbilical cord? It's still attached to the mother just outside of it! And then someone killed it! Is it abortion or murder?? There's no difference??" and I just felt stumped bc 1) how the fuck am I supposed to reply to something so dumb and 2) WHAT??? How would you have replied?
Well that’s just flat out silly. That baby is born, no longer inside of the pregnant person. No longer using their body to survive. All you have to do is cut the umbilical cord - no one is going to commit infanticide and attempt to call it abortion just because the umbilical cord is still attached.
See? These are the really annoying hypotheticals that pro-lifers try to throw at this blog all the time, just to attempt to poke holes in the argument. News flash, guys, it doesn’t fucking work.
I just find it so funny….. pro lifers are funny.
